“Nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know”
– Pema Chodron
Hey Y’all,
My name is Nichole, and I’m a meditation coach, acting coach, theater director, and writer.
I began meditating in college without realizing it was what I was doing. I opened every rehearsal as a director with a guided meditation. After inviting a couple of actors at the rehearsal across the hall to join us for that part, more wanted to come. Little did I realize I could it could have been my day job back then!
About 6 or 7 years ago, I started meditating for real. Sitting for certain lengths of time, learning how to breathe, and committing to myself. I was starting to realize that I was coming full circle as a director and as a meditator. However, this time, I knew what it was. Like you right now, I wanted to learn.
Meditation has become a foundation for my life. As life slowed down during COVID, I focused and started going deeper. My perspective shifted, and that’s when I found Sura. Her compassionate and feminine approach drew me in. Also, the idea of meditation and coaching coming together excited me. It was one of the best decisions of my life.
Meditation and the coaching skills to shift perspective, be present and offer healing to myself and others got me through difficult losses, a frightening illness and a cancer diagnosis. Every day is a gift to be acknowledged and meditation has helped me find the presence it takes to do it.
My practice has opened me up to my friends and family. It has supported my drive to keep pushing even when I’m tired, mentally or physically. It has allowed me to cry again, a gift some think is a weakness (I did)- it is not.
Learning to breathe, which sounds counterintuitive, is learning to live. Breathing with awareness is the key. It calms the mind, it regulates the nervous system, and it reconnects our mind and body. It reminds us we are alive, which I have sometimes forgotten in my desperation to simply survive.
It’s time to embrace being alive, to live this life to its fullest, and to let ourselves be the love and light we want in our lives so that we can share it with others.
You’re here for a reason. Join me on this beautiful journey.
